Wig Type Descriptions

What type of wig is best for me?

Wigs can be constructed in a number of ways, but you’ll want to know whether it was done by hand or manufactured. Wigs that are constructed by hand tend to look more natural, with a much better fit, especially if it’s a monofilament design.

Monofilament (aka-lace) wigs give the illusion that the hair is growing directly from the scalp. Wigs that have been constructed this way allow each singular strand to move freely and naturally, which is necessary for more natural-looking styles.

The key to choosing the right Crown for you is to be aware of your needs & capabilities to maintain it.

Lace Front Wigs allow for a seamless, natural look along the hairline. If you don’t want it to be obvious that you’re wearing a wig, then a lace front wig is definitely the way to go. You can still achieve many style options as with your own natural hair. You will need knowledge of lace front maintenance as there are steps that must be taken daily to keep your wig looking good.Matching the lace to your skin tone & the method of application are both very important points to consider when choosing a full or front lace wig.

Lace Closure wigs are also very popular due to the convenience of a glueless self application. You can put this kind of wig on yourself with ease. No glue or complicated application process needed. It is constructed on a cap that hugs the head comfortably. You have minimal design space for parting, braids or natural hairline exposure, but for some women that's enough to achieve the look they desire.

Full Lace Wigs

Full Lace wigs have an even more natural feel & look due to the entire wig having the ability to be parted anywhere as if it's your own natural hair. It can be manipulated into multiple styles and you may forget you're wearing a wig. Just like Lace front wigs you will also need maintenance knowledge for this type of wig as well. All the same rules apply...

Lace Part Wigs

Lace Part wigs have even more minimal parting space as it only leaves room for just a part. There is no natural hairline, no space for additional styling, or parting in any other area of the wig. But just like Lace Closure wigs, they are very convenient, easy maintenance & the potential for longevity is great.

Full Cap Wigs

Full Cap wigs are units that are fully covered with hair. Although very convenient & more reasonably priced, they do not possess the natural look of a scalp. Still beautiful, but not as natural. The ready to wear units are adjustable to different head sizes & getting your unit custom made will ensure an exact fit. They are secured by combs, clips or elastic bands added to keep the unit snugly in place.

Headband Wigs are wigs where the hairline is masked with a headband. Place it on your head and depending on the quality, hair texture and curl type, you can easily pass it off as your hair without worrying about hair glue, blending or leaving out your natural hair. Very convenient with minimal maintenance.

U-Part Wigs

U-Part wigs have hair extensions that are sewn on a U-shaped wig cap, that that lets you pull out a part of your natural hair and add it to the hair mix.You can sleep in your U-part wig just like any other hair unit. Typically, U-part wigs come in an array of sizes to suit your needs. You can choose a center, middle, or side U-part to achieve your desired style.
